FRINGE 2024
We are currently hiring for our FRINGE 2024 team!!!
Street Food Super Team required to join us in our temporary July/August home of George Square, Edinburgh.
Regularly voted as "Top Fringe Fest Food".
Chick + Pea / Kebabbar operate in the heart of Edinburgh's Fringe Festival - George Square Gardens.
We are looking for passionate and energetic individuals to cook, prepare and serve food in our street food trucks this Summer.
Chick+Pea:
At Chick+Pea we love recreating the amazing flavours of the Middle-East and Mediterranean, we serve freshly fried falafel, halloumi fries and loads of hummus.
Kebabbar:
At Kebabbar we are obsessed with Gyros and constructing the perfect combo. All kebabs are served in Greek pitta with fries and secret ingredient sauces. We serve our kebabs out of our custom built shipping container.
Our team:
Our team is the driving force each year. As part of our team you will pride yourself on creating delicious + fast food that people travel to find. You will be naturally customer obsessed and will work hard to ensure the each dish is served to the highest standard. You will be obsessed with keeping your work station tidy and always conscious of the overall aesthetic of the truck. You will be working shift patterns of circa 8 hours each day and will have a general positive and energetic approach.
The event:
We will be set up in George Square Gardens, Edinburgh from July onwards working with the following events:
Edinburgh Jazz Fest: 12th - 21st July
Scottish Street Food Festival: 19th - 28th July
Scottish Street Food Awards: 20th + 21st July
Edinburgh Fringe Festival: 31st July - 26th August
The garden is open from 10am - 3am daily.
We expect you to be available for the duration of the events.
The job:
Team Leads -
You will be in charge of looking after the team and making sure everybody knows what they are doing and communicate with the kitchen team. You will be tasked with opening and closing the units which will include setting up and cashing up each day.
You will have an awesome sense of humour and know how to keep the morale of the truck positive during a long, hot summer shift. It is preferred that you have experience in supervising teams but training will be provided for individuals exhibiting the right attitude. It is vital that you have a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
You will also be expected to work alongside the team members in all aspects of the job including cooking, serving and cleaning.
We are looking for people to work a minimum of 5 days a week in this role. It is essential that you are available from the middle of July - end of August.
Team Member -
You will be customer facing and responsible for ensuring the food looks great. There are multiple positions in each unit and these will be rotated during shifts, the positions include till, fry section and grill. All training will be provided so do not worry if you have zero experience working with food, we look for individuals with good attitude.
You will also be tasked with light food prep duties as well as washing up duties.
It is highly preferred that you have some experience in a fast paced environment, it does not matter if this is related or bar work or stockroom work etc. If you do not have experience in any job then it is essential that you have the right attitude and a passion for food and great customer service. It is not essential to be a chef for this role, we will train you on how to prepare the food - we just ask that you are willing to learn and happy to undergo basic food hygiene training.
We are looking for people who are able to work a minimum of 4 days a week for this role. It is essential that you are available from the middle of July - end of August.
Food Prep Chef -
We have our own prep kitchen onsite where we conjure up our falafel, hummus, kebabs along with various sauces. You will be the master of this kitchen and chief liaison with the Team Leads on site.
It is essential that you are available from the middle of July - end of August.
It is essential that you have experience working in a food environment and hold a food hygiene certificate.
For all positions we ask for you to be confident working by yourself and without supervision. It is worth noting that you will also be working in street food huts which are outside and so please be aware that it can become cold.
You will be required to travel to George Square Gardens, Edinburgh and our operating hours will be circa 11am - 3am.

Hourly rate £11.50 - 13.50 per hour.
Paid weekly.
We will provide you with a team t-shirt and apron for when on shift.
Bonus paid at the end of festival subject to performance review.
Contract 12th July - 26th August (some positions will be possible to start at the beginning of August).
