How to win at your street food wedding

January 22, 2017

One of the most frequent requests we receive at Chick+Pea is to serve our Middle-Eastern / Mediterranean inspired street food at weddings throughout Scotland and the North of England. We absolutely love serving our food at weddings, everybody is so happy, everybody looks great and the food is always extremely popular.

Given the popularity of street food weddings we thought that it would be worthwhile to share some hints and tips on how we at Chick+Pea can cater for your street food wedding in Scotland and the North of England.

You provide the venue

This goes without saying, but think long and hard about where you consider for your wedding venue. We are spoilt for choice in Scotland and the North of England. Around Edinburgh and Glasgow there are some beautiful country estates, even further afield in the Borders, Perthshire and West of Scotland you will find castles, old museums and plenty of golf courses. Any location that you do consider will have to be suitable for street food and what we mean is - be prepared to maximise the location if it is sunny and be prepared to take shelter if it rains.

The big day is all about you, we want to make it work - talk to us!

For any wedding that we cater for we insist on having an in depth conversation with the two people that matter the most. It is important to understand your tastes and how you would like everything to look, how fast we need to serves guests, whether you want us to serve the food in cardboard boxes, and how long you will require our van.

It's really all about the food

When choosing your wedding street food menu from Chick+Pea it is worth considering the following points:

  • Do you want people to eat and stand up or will they be able to eat sitting down?

  • Make sure the food is not drippy (watch those gowns).

  • Think about portion size - do you want guests to be able to eat one or more dish or do you want one main dish and a couple of smaller side dishes?

  • People get hungry when they drink - always ordering a little more food will ensure you cover those drunken munchies.

  • Tell us how quickly you need the food, will everyone come to the van at once or will the guests be staggered? We can cater for either scenario but will be able to advise you of the best food choices for each.

Come and try the food!

We absolutely encourage you to try the food before you commit to us serving our food to your guests. Come and find us at an event, if you let us know in advance then we can prepare some wedding tasters.

We understand wedding catering can be expensive and we try to be as flexible as possible on this. Our dishes range from £10-£30 per head depending on how much food you would like per person. A preview of our Middle-Eastern / Mediterranean inspired wedding street food is below:
